Diagnosis and conversation

Every surgical plan begins with a thorough exam and imaging. We’ll look at what’s happening inside your mouth using 3D scans and digital tools, and then we’ll sit down with you to talk about your options. You’ll understand what we see and how we can treat it together. If surgery is needed, we’ll explain what that procedure looks like and when it should happen.

2

Preparing for surgery

We’ll go over what to do before your appointment so you feel ready, not rushed. If anxiety is a factor, we’ll talk about options like laughing gas to help you stay relaxed. Our team will also walk through how to prepare your body to heal well, which may include dietary tips, rest, or simple home care instructions.

Treatment and healing

When the day comes, you’ll be in a calm, supportive space. We use gentle techniques, modern tools, and compassionate care to keep you comfortable. After the procedure, you’ll head home with clear instructions and check-ins from our team to help you heal smoothly. We’re always a phone call away.

What we see changes how we treat

Dr. Johnstone shares how a personal shift toward health and longevity changed the way she practices dentistry. In this conversation, she explains how microscopy, bacterial testing, and a more human approach help patients understand inflammation, make informed decisions, and feel like partners in their care.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the type of surgery and your preferences. For many procedures, we use local anesthetic along with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral sedation, which means you’ll be relaxed and comfortable but still aware. If you’re especially anxious or want a deeper level of sedation, we’ll talk about what makes the most sense for you and can coordinate care with a licensed anesthesiologist for more advanced sedation options.

Most patients begin to feel significantly better within a few days. Full healing times vary depending on the procedure, but we’ll give you detailed instructions and stay closely involved in your aftercare. If something doesn’t feel right or healing takes longer than expected, we’re just a phone call away.

Yes. In fact, many patients come to us for a second opinion because they want a provider who will listen to their concerns and explain things clearly. We’re always happy to review your case, look at your records, and talk honestly about your options. There’s never any pressure, and we’re here to support you in figuring out what feels right for you.

What an amazing team at Lake Hill Dental! I couldn’t be happier with the care I received. Everyone treated me with genuine care, concern, and respect - not just as a patient, but as a person. Highly recommended!

Kim Frustere

I have major dental anxiety and was really nervous about going in, but this office was incredibly kind and caring from start to finish. They weren’t judgmental at all and took the time to explain everything step by step, which really helped calm me down. They listened to my concerns and made sure I felt comfortable the whole time. With a long road of dental work ahead, I’m so glad I was referred here and I finally feel comfortable going to the dentist.

Chelsea Rees

I have been a patient at Lake Hill Dental for several years and am so pleased with the care provided by the Dentists and the staff. For starters, the office is modern and very welcoming which is greatly appreciated.

Over the years, I have been impressed with the thoughtful care given by Dr. Johnstone and Dr. Denning. Recently, I had two experiences with Dr. Denning where he demonstrated both patience and kindness despite a very busy schedule and patient load. He listened to my concerns and responded to them thoughtfully.

I highly recommend Lake Hill Dental!
